hassam36 Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Hello Does anyone know of a solution whereby a letter template in MS Word can access Filemaker data through some ODBC driver or some other solution? I know there is no Filemaker database data source that comes with Windows XP. I would rather not use Excel or some other data file as an intermediary. Thanks
Jalz Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Install the FileMaker odbc driver and configure it bu creating a new user dsn ( through control panel odbc). Use 2399 for your sequellink port. Then go into word, mailings use existing list. Click on new source, and choose odbc dsn. you should see your filemaker odbc so select it and that is about it. ODBC in word is a bit hit and miss, its far more stable in excel?
hassam36 Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 I cannot seem to install the Filemaker ODBC driver. We are on Windows XP SPII. I have downloaded the Microsoft MDAC 2.8 SP1 and the MDAC 2.8. When I try to install either, I either get an error message for invalid operating system (MDAC 2.8 SP1), or an error saying that all the downloaded components are the same as what is already installed on the PC.
