I have set up three accounts that use server authentication via a group name. I also set up one account that FM authenticates that has [Full Access] priviledge. This FM authenticated account is at the top of the list. If I open the solution from the server and hold down the shift key, the account dialogue window appears and I type in the account and password, but FM tells me that this account is not valid. What am I doing wrong. I want to get in with full access by passing the server authentication.

Sounds as if you are doing everything correctly. Be sure that you respect case sensitivity for the password and that there are no errant spaces in either the Account Name or the password.

If you typed correct account name and password; then please check account names.

I found that account name should be one word.

example

you have two accounts, "mire" and "mire000".

Your account previledge sort order as

mire

mire000

Then you want login as "mire000", but FileMaker check "mire" and its password.

If you changed sort order as

mire000

mire

you can logged in as account "mire000", this time, perphaps.

This is my experience with FMS8 and FMP8.0/8.5/9.0.

Also, We have trouble for "External Server" Authentification with Active Directory Server.

We can't use space, numbers and symbols with alphabetical charactors with FMSA9.2
