Initiate script from field value

I'm new to 8.5 and this may be trivial, but I'm trying to initiate a script based upon a value in a text field.

Actually I'm using voice input to enter text into multiple fields. If I enter 'new' or 'delete' into a specific field, I want a script to trigger that will either create a new record or delete the existing record.

the only solution I've been able to locate is to accomplish this from within another script, which defeats the purpose [for me anyway].
