Hi people @ fmforums

I know this topic may be out of place, but it is related to a WAN IP problem I think, so ...:B

I'm running FMP 8.5 on OSX 10.3.9 and I want to share a database using IWP. What should guests type in the address field of their browsers? It is clearly not the local IP-address that FileMaker suggests in the IWP setup dialog!

And do I need to configure my AirPort Extreme in a certain way to let outside guests see the IWP startpage ?!?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards, pinocchio

"What should guests type in the address field of their browsers?"

Where are the guests: inside your LAN behind the router or outside, on the internet?

If there are on the outside internet, you probably need to set up port forwarding on your router.

thanks Vaughan

Guests are on the internet, far away from here.

By port forwarding, do you refer to the port 80 ?

Should the guests add the port number in the URL ?

Hi again Vaughan

It's done! :B-) success

I set up the portmapping on the Airport and added the port extension :80 at the end of the IP-URL in the browser address field, and bingo!

I searched the documentation very, very thorougly, but I did not see this mentioned anywhere. And the URL generated in the FM IWP setup dialog is a local URL, useless to anyone who want's to take their database to the web.

I think that's poor documentation!

Thanks again!
