Is it possible to . . .

Featured Replies

Is it possible to . . .

Do a find using CDML.

Display the results.

Export the find results to an Excel file.

Either e-mail the file to someone or have a button so a person can download the file.

Or am I asking to much for Christmas?

Thank you

Kent

Hmm... If you were prepared to accept CSV format (which Excel can easily import) then you might be able to do it with a series of inlineactions and a bit of clever coding (I would guess - haven't tried it myself, but it's on my wish list of things to do). Alternatively, you could send the data to a Perl program and get it to do the Excel donkey work.

Email is definitely OK because that's a standard feature of CDML (although it can be v. difficult to get it to work properly) or again use something like Perl which most web servers support.

So, all I can concretely offer you is my undying respect that you are trying to pull this off.

Kent,

If FM is on Windows you can use ActiveX, if Mac Applescript. These programs can be used to attach the exported file to the email, then send it. They may even be used to import the file into Excel.

Check the FM help on ActiveX; it is quite detailed.

All the best.
