hi all. i'm trying to setup this simple database. i load the program on my mac, go to my pc, type in the mac ip address and fmp locks up on the mac and on the pc it just keeps searching, no messages. i force quit fmp and then try to restart and get an error message that it can't start i should save the work and restart computer which then allows me to start the fmp.

i've setup several db's before without trouble but now seems to have trouble. this is straitforward basic cdml to open html home page. have triple checked all settings and they are correct, sharing, ip address, home page selected, etc.

port is set at 80. if i change to 591 i get message on pc can't be found when trying to access.

thoughts?

all help appreciated

It is not clear if you are trying to achieve Instant or Custom Publishing or if you are attempting file sharing.

Do you have 'Personal Web Sharing' enabled on the Mac? If so you may have a conflict on port 80. You can change the port to 591 in the 'Application/Web' preferences setup.

Also, vers 6 of Netscape will crash FMP5.5. Use 5.5v2

All the best.
