I am fairly new to FMS 9 and I have a problem directly after installing the server. The installation launches the pre-launch web page, but I never get past that page on one of my customers.

They have MS 2003 server and firefox 2.x installed, Java version is 6.X.

Am I missing something? I have never installed with firefox as default browser and it usually works fine with IE7 (wich the customer wont install "to much crap in c:" - he's prob right...)

At first Firefox was not installed so the system tried with IE6 - not working of course - he then installed firefox 2.

Anyone familiar with this problem?

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'll look into that - that sounds like the problem really. "telnet ip port" cannot connect either, so something is prob up with that port.

No firewall is active though.

Any Idea how to check what is causing this?

Could it be the RRAS - Routing and Remote Access in windows sbs 2003 server that's causing it? The windows firewall claims that it cannot run when another program uses ipnat.sys. This message could appear when RRAS is enabled (and it is). Could RRAS mess up port 16000?

We are having same problem in a XP machine acting as server, with FM server 9 v2 installed, and java updated to last version.

We have no firewall, antivirus or similar installed on server machine, so all ports should be available, and no other application or service is running on that server (except the XP ones of course).

We did 2 fm server 9 clean installations, but the only that we have got when we attempted to run the admin console, is a message saying "Please wait the admin server starts" and that´s all that I can get.

We had repeated the same installation process into another "clean" machine, in a different network, and we got the same situation.

In fact we were not able to do even the deployment, because nothing happened when we say to continue doing it on installation process.

When we try to access to http://localhost:1600 We are getting a web page saying:

State 500 followed by this message:

FileMaker Server has encountered an error:

The server found an internal error ()

By other hand the filemaker server is working properly and databases that I´ve copied into database directory are being served correctly to fm 9 clients.

Any idea about what would be happening with admin console ??.

Thank you so much in advance.

We have had the same problem as well. See:

http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/190933/post/272139/hl//fromsearch/1/#272139

I continually get the message that FM Server had to shut down, etc. but, when I check services it says FM server is running. I haven't moved my application over to the server side yet so I can not say whether or not it actually is working. But, it appears the error message is inconsistent with the facts. The Admin console opens, but loads off center so I can not see what options I have. When I click on an option I get an error message saying the "Database server is not running." Restart the database server.:)?"

From what I'm seeing it appears this is a problem with FMS 9 under Windows.

The Console is not the Server service. Check to be sure in the upper left hand corner of the console that the correct database icon has been clicked and that the service is started. Also, double check in the Windows OS Services Control Panel that FM Server is shown as started.

Hi Steven:

Under Services windows shows FM to be started. Unfortunately, I can not check the upper left corner because the console opens to the left and above the top of the page. So I can not see the top bar or any of the menu choices on the left side of the page. This of course adds to my troubleshooting problems. Any suggestions?
