How can you make a multiple check box drop down list

Featured Replies

Hello,

I would like to create a drop down list that the user can use check boxes to select the multiple values that they want... this is similar to whatis available in Excel's Pivot table.

For example if I have a list of employees and the user wants to review the work performed by 3 of the 16 employees I wish to offer the employee list so the user can select the 3 employees of interest.

regards,

"Drop-down list" and "checkboxes" are mutually exclusive. Checkboxes imply multiple selections, which implies that there be some kind of window where those can be seen. FileMaker does not allow us to create a true "modal" window, which would be ideal for this situation, but you can open a small window of a particular size (or zoom to fit) at a particular place (if you can figure out just where it should be).

Some care needs to be taken when opening/closing the little window, so that you don't create a slew of windows, or close the only window. And it does not play well with Maximize on Windows.

The checkboxes would likely be a global field, from a value list.

[P.S. You don't have to the little window. You could just switch to that layout. But I like the little window :)-]
