Finally I have found an "incompatibility?" between admin console (java application) and XP sp2 when you use Spanish Language.

So, in order to start the admin console I have followed those steps:

1 - I made an uninstallation of Java enviroment (all versions that we found on server machines that had the same problem with admin console - may be this steep it´s not absolutely necessary)

2 - Then I changed the XP language to English (united states). However IT´S NOT NECESSARY to change the keyboard language which is an important key for users who has a password which uses typical spanish characters.

3 - I made a clear java installation downloading installer from Sun webpage.

4 - I restarted the system (may be it wouldn´t be necessary)

5 - Finally I started admin console without problems and now its working prefectly.

I have noticed that if I try to change XP to Spanish language again, the Admin console stops working and we get the same error the we had before, when we try to access to http://localhost:16000 address at browser.

I guess that this issue has something to do with the way that java virtual machine is located, on different O.S. language enviroments, in order to run the fmsadmin.exe java application...but it´s only a theory :) ... the fact is that each time that we need to run the Admin console we need to turn the XP language to English and restart the system.

I hope that my experience with that issue would be helpful to some other users that are running XP in spanish enviroment.

Regards.

hi,

I have the same problem under a spanish XP but I can't solve it, I might be doing something wrong.

1.- I did uninstall Java

2.- I switched language on the 'Opciones regionales' tab into the 'Configuracion regional y de idioma' control panel

3.- I installed Java in english from java.com (Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.30)

4.- I restarted Windows XP...

...it doesn't work neither.

Maybe is the xp language change? how do you do it? are you using a Multilingual User Interface Pack on top of your xp pro?

Can you give me some more help?

Thanks!

Hello Naio,

The only recommendations that I would bring you are:

1 - Be sure that all versions of java are uninstalled properly (I did it going to "panel de control -> agregar o quitar programas and then looking for all java environments intalled in order to remove it). In our first installation I found two different java versions installed.

2 - The seccond thing is to install the correct java package (I guess that you did it yet). I got it from http://www.java.com/es/download/index.jsp

Which is Version 6 update 3

If nothing of this works, I recomend you to uninstall the FileMaker Server as well as Java and then with english language activated, try to make a new installation. (yes I know this sounds like "la solución típica del informático", but as you know sometimes works ;-) )

Hope it heps you.

Good luck with it

Regards.
