davepain Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Hi, I have a multiple relationship filemaker files running on a Windows XP machine (FP5)This connects using ODBC to grab data from an external website SQL dababase, and performs calculations, every 30 mins. Meanwhile i have other users connecting remotly to these databases. I am having problems with users loosing connections and not being able to recconnect, without me rebooting the XP machine. There seems to be a general problem with stability when there are multiple remote users, especially whilst running scripts on the XP machine. Any Ideas where to start?
IdealData Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Upgrade? Current version is 9 and remote connectivity is light years ahead.
davepain Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 thanks, do you think there would be any benifit to running Filemaker Server 9, or could i get away with Filemaker Pro?
IdealData Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 You get a lot of "server" benefits with FMS 9. Remote management is a breeze and you can install and deploy files remotely without shutting down the server, schedule backups etc.. It is also faster still and you won't be limited to 9 concurrent FMP users. It needs a dedicated machine though and the specs took a bit of a hike from previous versions.
