Editing a Field Across a Searched Set

I've got a dbase with about 113K records in it. I need to take blocks of that data (maybe 10-15K records at a time, sometimes as few as 150 records) and edit a single text field across all of them. In other words, I do the search to get my data set, then need to edit one line of text across all of the fields in the search result set.

Can I do this? If so, how? Seems obvious, but I'm totally missing this.

Yes, you can.

For "how", we need to know more things...

1) The text must be the same for all the found records ?

or

2) The text is different, but can be calculated ?
