macmangler Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 (edited) Hi... I have a few databases at my office that many users are accessing and inputting data. Many of the users are copying data from maybe an email and pasting the text, such as a delivery address and the text formatting is completely different than the field is set for...such as font, font size..font attributes. Is there a way I can control this? The users are inapt or too lazy to go into the file menu and adjust the color or font size, etc.... they just like buttons. So I was wondering if I could make a button to clean the fields up...or somehow force a font style in a field. Also phone number entry is not uniform.. some people type "212-555-1212" and some "(212) 555-1212" Maybe I am being anal? I realize if I export the data out I can clean it up... but, immediately after entry.. tickets and/or printouts are being made, there is no time for that. Also...I think this requires a script instead of a calculation? Any advice is appreciated! Edited December 5, 2007 by Guest
macmangler Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 I found the solution...you can make a calculation on a field and still modify the field. This can be set during field creation and field options under Auto-Enter. You have to uncheck the field "Do not replace existing value of field.."
Lee Smith Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 You have to uncheck the field "Do not replace existing value of field.." Not available in version 6
macmangler Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 I am running version 9... but it was available on version 8. It's a nice feature!
Lee Smith Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Both your profile and the version being used in your question reflected that you were using v6. You need to update your profile, or at least reflect the version that the question is being asked about. Please change it now. TIA Lee
