newbie wonders... define database columns

I am sure there is a way, but searching has not produced the answer. :

How does one resize columns in the "define database" dialogue box, - tables, fields, relationships- so that the resize (stretching, or whatever it is called) 'sticks' and is used the next time I open the define database dialogue box?

It's not in the define database menu part, but instead the view menu ... where you should get something called layout mode.

You can't, AFAIK.

You can stretch that box all over the place, and it will remain the size you stretch it to. However, resizing the columns does not stick for some reason I have never understood. This is something that has BUGged me too for many years.

However, if someone has a trick, I'm all eyes and ears.
