Jerry100 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Using Windows Server. With FMS8 I used a "robot" client to run nightly scripts to import records from a non-FM file into my main FM Table. The hype with FMS9 was that with the ability to run ScriptMaker scripts from the server, robots were history. Unfortunately, the most useful script step "Import Records" is not web-compatible, a requirement for Server-Side scripts. Has anyone figured a way around that or should I continue using a client just to run nightly routines?
obdata Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 As far as I know there is no way around that. It sure is inconvenient sometimes. Also, I was wondering what "robot" client you were using and how it worked(I might need to use something like that).
Jerry100 Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 By "robot" client I simply mean a computer with FM9 that has a scheduled VBScript which opens a simple FileMaker file which initiates the scripts in my hosted solution to run at 4:00 am, so the host is ready for staff at 6:00 am. It is the only purpose that the "robot" computer serves and seems a waste of resources. However the function it fulfills is critical to the mission.
