December 19, 200718 yr Using Windows Server. With FMS8 I used a "robot" client to run nightly scripts to import records from a non-FM file into my main FM Table. The hype with FMS9 was that with the ability to run ScriptMaker scripts from the server, robots were history. Unfortunately, the most useful script step "Import Records" is not web-compatible, a requirement for Server-Side scripts. Has anyone figured a way around that or should I continue using a client just to run nightly routines?
December 19, 200718 yr As far as I know there is no way around that. It sure is inconvenient sometimes. Also, I was wondering what "robot" client you were using and how it worked(I might need to use something like that).
December 20, 200718 yr Author By "robot" client I simply mean a computer with FM9 that has a scheduled VBScript which opens a simple FileMaker file which initiates the scripts in my hosted solution to run at 4:00 am, so the host is ready for staff at 6:00 am. It is the only purpose that the "robot" computer serves and seems a waste of resources. However the function it fulfills is critical to the mission.
