performing a find in a new window

Searched the forums and couldn't find the answer.

If I open a new window that goes to a different layout to perform my find, is there an easy way to pass the results of the find to the original window?

i used to have same problem. i solved it by closing original window then change search window name and size as original window. I cant figure out an easier way, but this works without any problem.
