I should have worded my question as follows:

When I start up FileMaker Pro 5 on my PC it shows files in My Documents folder. Is there a way to change this so a different folder is the default folder?

Hmmm.

You used the Mac icon, but the "My Documents" folder is a Windows feature. So...

If you're on a Mac, you can put an alias in the "Startup Items" folder inside the System folder, and these items will start every time you boot up.

If you're on Windows, I have no clue.

unless i am mistaken, just double click on the .fp5 file for that database, and it will open up in file maker. as for you first question, i dont know if you can do that.

and if you want to open a .fp5 file when the computer starts up, then put a short cut to that file in the startup folder under ../windows/start menu/programs/startup and it will start it in filemaker when the computer starts

look at the properties for the shortcut that opens FileMaker pro. The Properties include a "default" directory (or it may be called "run in" or something). Just change this directory to whatever you want.
