RoadrunnerRay Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Hi all, looking at upgrading our system from 2-Macs (G5's) running OS 10.3.9 Server (with Web Publishing) and OS 10.3.9 running FileMaker Server 7 Advanced. I will be upgrading the Mac's to OS 10.5 first then I want to upgrade my Filemaker software to 9.X. I am currently using CWP with XSLT/XML. I searched the FileMaker site for a 9.0 Web Publishing Installation Guide to see what was involved but did not find one. It looks like they are moving to support PHP in this version. Anyone out there that has experienced this migration route and might offer some thoughts on avoiding unnecessary "pain" here would be much appreciated. Thanks..........Ray
Steven H. Blackwell Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 In Server 9, the Advanced version is needed only if you're doing IWP or ODBC/JDBC (as a source)connectivity. Other flavors of Web Publishing are all now part of the standard Server. FileMaker Server 9 is not yet Leopard compatible, but it will be. Stay tuned. Steven
RoadrunnerRay Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Hi Old Advance Man, thanks for your reply, I will hold off on the installation until I read that the two packages are compatible. Since Apple owns FileMaker I imagine this will be a top priority for them......Ray (pretty ancient myself!)
RoadrunnerRay Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Thought I would again inquire as to the compatibility of FileMaker Server 9.X and Apple 10.5. You were kind enough to respond to my last query. Should I wait to do this upgrade or have the problems been resolved? Thanks......Ray
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Yes, the 9.0v3 version was released in February. It is Leopard compatible. Be sure to use the fill version installer. Steven
RoadrunnerRay Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 I have just moved my OSX v3.9 server software to a new G5. I want to upgrade this OS to ver 5.x and then be sure it works correctly with my web server computer running FileMaker Server Advanced 7.0v2 before I upgrade to FileMaker Advanced 9.0v3. Will there be any compatibility problems with this configuration? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.........Ray
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I do not believe that FileMaker Server 7 will run correctly on Leopard Server. Only FileMaker Server 9.0v3 and Leopard Server 10.5.2 seem to be in sync. Steven
RoadrunnerRay Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 Thanks Steven, I guess I will just have to jump in with both feet on this one.............Ray
RoadrunnerRay Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 Just finished reading the Os X Server v10.5 "Getting Started" manual. It states that if you want to install on the existing server (in my case OS X Server Advanced v10.3.9) you can only do a "New or Clean" install and not an upgrade. Is this true? Thanks in advance for any thoughts......Ray
RoadrunnerRay Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 I installed the Server Assistant on a PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.5 and will do an upgrade from this computer.........Ray
RoadrunnerRay Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Almost finished. I have been on the phone with the FileMaker help desk who are still looking into this last hurdle. Two machine configuration: Master is running Mac 10.5.3 with FM Server Advance 9.0.3.325 Worker is running Mac 10.5.3 Server with the FM Web Publishing Engine. The master machine is serving up the databases to our network with no problem. The worker machine is serving up our web site OK. The FM Admin Console is indicating all is well. When I run the FM test XSLT page from the Admin Console I get the following error message: "The XSLT connection to the FMServer_Sample database failed. This Web Publishing Engine already has too many active sessions. Using the FileMaker Server Admin Console , increase the number of Web Publishing Engine sessions, disconnect an active session, or wait a while for more sessions to become available. (Error 956)" I am also unable to access database info from my own XSLT web pages. The number of sessions is set at the default of 100 which is more than we would ever have. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.....Ray
RoadrunnerRay Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 forum Moderator, can this be moved to the "Advanced" forum??........Thanks, Ray
