Quit/Exit Application

Can anyone tell me why this script will not quit?

Close Window [Current Window]

Exit Application

only a script

Exit Application

works.

Is not Close current window and Exit the proper way to Quit FM files?

The current window contains the Script. Once you close this window there is no more script to execute. Simply Exit Application is all you would need anyways since that would close the full FM application.
