My file turned into " not modifiable"

Featured Replies

My file which i have been using for a long time, suddenly became non modifiable this morning.

The file is hosted on our X-serve running Tiger 10.4, but FilemakerPro 8.5 is actually hosting the file.

(One of the drawbacks is the server will sometimes disconnect me and give me error messages until I close the file- reconnect- and then open and everything is fine.)

I was notified by one of the IWP users that they could no longer edit the fields that were fine yesterday when they went home.

Upon confirming this myself, i was trying to check on their account privaliges I got the message that it was not modifiable.

After looking through our forum I had a couple of options:

1. Ensure the Group permissions for the folder and the file on the server were set to "fmsadmin". This was not an option in the list.

2. Save a compacted copy - then do a save as and reimport the old database information. ( This one works btw)

3.Export all data if I can - and try to reload from a earlier back up.

4. Try to recover file - seems to be warned against not being the best method to do.

Is there anything else i missed or can try?

Is your data important? Host it with FileMaker Server.
