ndk Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Hello all. I am running FMS 9 for Leopard (just updated from version 2). I want to install a trial version of server *advance* so I go to filemaker.com, fill out the info and here are the problems I'm encountering. 1. Takes days before I got an answer (tried multiple times, see below). 2. When I finally get an email to direct me to the download page, it's not for server advance, but for server. 3. I've written multiple emails to filemaker support and I still haven't gotten an answer (yes, I did check my junk folder, just in case). This is a major PITA, not because it's a biggy in terms of time waisted. I'm on a high speed satelite connection and I get FAPped after 500 MBs. Given the size of the files, it doesn't take long to get FAPped. Can anybody direct me to a URL from where I can download filemaker server advance for Leopard trial? I'd be very appreciative. TIA :B
Steven H. Blackwell Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I don't think this will work. IIRC,if you install the "trial" version, it will revert you full version. You may have to remove the full version of Server, the install the trial version. On the second question, I don't know if the trial version has an advanced component. Steven
IdealData Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 If you join the Filemaker Technet programme then you get access to developer license of FMSA.
ndk Posted February 8, 2008 Author Posted February 8, 2008 Thanks. Firstly, I'm trying to install on a separate disk (external firewire) before deploying the Leopard advance server version, so I don't really need to touch the working version, which is running on an Xserve dualie 2.3 GHz. To do anything else would be reckless from my part:) The issue is that there is a link to request a link for server 9 advance (version 3) for Leopard (http://www.filemakertrial.com/servertrial/form/entry.aspx), but when I download the file after having gone to the link provided by the folks at filemaker, it's the server, not the advanced version. It's really a shame, because I would like to try it out and deploy it, but filemaker inc. is making it extremely difficult. After all, the price for server advance is significant, and I'm sure it's worth every penny, but I would really, really like to try it out first. Secondly, it's a shame that it's taking the filemaker folks days to respond to my question. The way I see it is that if I ever need technical support, will I have to wait days also?
