Cassetti Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Hey all, I've been reading around and found no answer to this common problem. When my coworkers execute scripts that generate a send mail step, they can not access filemaker until they send the email. I could solve the problem by simply sending mail without dialog, however we need to be able to edit the emails first. The only solution i've found is to use a mailto script step. Since you can add cc, bcc, subject, and even body text via a mailto: open url step. This won't work for us since there is a limit on the length of the body text using that step. The strange (well not really) thing is that I myself use Mozilla Thunderbird, and do not experience this issue. And i can't get them to switch to thunderbird. So are there any solutions out there for how to let my users access filemaker pro before sending the email?
Newbies mws120 Posted June 11, 2008 Newbies Posted June 11, 2008 Hi there...wondering if you got any further with this issue...I have always had this issue - using fm6 and outlook 2003. I just learnt to work within the parameters...though I understand that my needs/requirements for FM emailing are different to yours. My solution - whilst in the email (after FM prompts outlook) and editing, if you needed FM or another program options were either 1)finish the email 2) save the email and close/send to draft and resume the email later... one issue I did find was that after a certain time (say 3-4 minutes, if you didn't finish the email...FMP and Outlook froze and then the only option is to Ctrl- alt - del and end program ...so there is a timing issue for me too. I have lived with this for 2 years now. But what has prompted me now to resolve it is that I have only recently upgraded to Office 2007 and the issue has varied slightly. I now have a issue where Outlook and FM lockout 50% of the time when I hit send and outlook does a spell check first. ending the programs is my only option.
