Zippy Aus Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Hi all Filemaker Server Advanced 8 used to be so simple. Install the server, install the web companion and start serving. FMSA 9 is proving to be a nightmare, at least for me. I am trying to install it in a two machine config on Mac OS X. I originally wanted to set it up on two Mac OS X 10.4.10 Servers, but have had so many dramas with that. When I have finally got the configuration "working", I got an error along the lines of "WPE has too many active sessions. (error 956)." After some reading, people were saying it was a Firewall issue. I wasn't running firewall software nor was I going through our firm firewall. So I put the machines onto there own network, just to be sure and still got the same issue. I un-installed and re-installed the FMS software on both machines several times to no effect. I then wiped both machines and re-installed the OSX server software on both machines and re-installed FMS (this time updating it to v3). Still the same error. So now I have got myself two g5 iMacs, installed OS X server 10.4.10 on both of them and tried this clean evironment. The two machine are the only two on a network, connect via a 4 port hub. I still get the same error. In desperation I have re-formatted them both as Mac OS X 10.4.10 (not server), run all required updates (java updates, avoiding release6 as there was an issue with this) and deployed the FM server. Now when I go to the test pages I am getting "Forbidden You do not have authorization to access this server" in my browser. I am at my whits end. Fortunately I have kept my FMS8 and FMSA8 machines running and serving the online systems. Any advice, help, critism, thoughts anything would be greatly appreciated. Cheers in advance. Zippy
Newbies stephanwik Posted February 20, 2008 Newbies Posted February 20, 2008 http://tinyurl.com/27sjpa fixed it for me.
Zippy Aus Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 Thanks ... hasn't helped me ... will keep trying though ... need to get my 9WPE working as all the other servers have been upgraded except the 1 hosting the web databases .. it is still running on 8 with FMSA 8 on a separate box.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Install worker machiens first, then master machine. Is that whay you did? Steven
Zippy Aus Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 yes .. the worker machine was configured first and waiting for the master. I will try this again though. Cheers S
