Akak Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 (edited) HELP!!! Please save my computer, because if I don't figure out what is wrong I'm going to throw it out of a window. This is saying something as I am generally a very easy going kind of guy. I created a report with a sub-summary a while ago. It was working fine. The only difference between then and now, that I can think of, is that I have switched from tiger to leopard. Now, my sub-summary section is MIA whenever I switch to preview mode. I've tried everything I can think of. I've deleted the report and created a new one. I've started from "scratch" and deleted the table I used to create the report, recreated it, recreated the report and it still didn't work. Has anyone had this problem? Maybe found the solution? David Jondreau Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Are your records sorted by the field you name when defining the summary part in layout mode?
Akak Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Actually, a very strange thing happened. I used the report template in the Layouts menu and it created a new report basically like the one I did myself...except that it worked. Here's the strange part, after doing that, the one I created myself started working. I guess it was just a bug in FMP or my computer or something. In case you still wanted to know (although it doesn't matter now) - I have a SHOE field and a TYPE field. I use a calculation to give me an exact count of SHOE and TYPE (e.g. Converse - Men; 2000 prs.). Then, of course, I have a summary field that totals the count. So my sub-summary is by SHOE and I have TYPE in the body. In effect, I get every possible combination, a sub-summary by SHOE and a grand total at the end. I don't know why it stopped working, but having it create it's own report fixed the one I created myself...my computer has been saved for now.
