1 field not refreshing until I click on it

Featured Replies

I have a fairly complex layout with around 50 fields. The odd thing that I don't understand is that I have a single field based on a calculation that the screen does not update until after I've clicked on that particular field. All of the other calculations are instantaneous.

What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Seems as though there is no action that is allowing the calc to refresh. Is it from a related table? Is the calc stored or unstored?

It is unstored and from a related table.

I think I figured it out.

My calculation was: Address = Address from related table

It was fixed by: Address = If (Address = Address; Address from related table)

So based on what you were saying, there was no reason to re-calculate. I'm guessing I should have used something different than a calculation based on this sort of problem.

Thanks.

From what you have said, it seems as though all you need to do is put the related field on your layout. No calc is needed.

Check your relationship is correct with regard to the fields on both sides being of the same data type. Also check whether the relationship is set to sort, and whether the sort fields are correct (I've seen weird things happen when the sort field was deleted, the relationship goes screwy like you're seeing).
