Hi all,

After making the initial release of my filemaker solution, people will hopefully download it and install and use...

When, I upgrade the solution's version by adding fields, tables, scripts etc; Is there a secure/accurate way of upgrading the solution on people's computer without altering their already recorded data ??

Regards and Thanks

If you use the separation model you can update the front end without messing with the data already there. If you did not use the separation model you need to import the data from the older version into the newer version. You can import using scripts.

Hope this helps

This forums has a section called the separation model. You can get all or most of the ideas from there. The jif of the separation is to have a front end to let the user input and print the data with a data base on the back end to stored the data.
