March 2, 200817 yr Newbies Hi, All, Sorry if this is going over old ground, but I've been dumped with the task of creating a "simple" database for the company I work for. The design stage is easy enough - I think! My problem is trying to get 6 fields to add up. I have 6 fields designated for numbers in a column and a 7th field where I need to get the total of the other 6 fields. I'm convinced that it's oh, so easy, but I haven't got a clue how to do it. All and any help greatly appreciated! Cheers, All. Juttle
March 3, 200817 yr Author Newbies Hi, again, Like I said, it had to be something simple! I spent about 45 minutes searching around to find somewhere to try your solution, and eventually, it worked! I'm amazed. It looks like I'm going to be doing more of this, so, is there such a thing as a 'useful' manual for Filemaker 9, or should I just keep reading the posts here? Thanks a whole lot for your help, Bob
March 3, 200817 yr Do a search at Amazon for FileMaker and Books. If you see any that sounds like what you need, you might find a review here on it. You can always post a Thread in the Resource Topic about it too. The books that I own, don't go into a lot of calculations. However, maybe if you do a search for "operators" in FileMaker's Online Help, you will find a starting point. I would also recommend the file by John Mark Osborne called FileMaker 9 Reference, and you can read about it Here HTH Lee
