exporting images to xml

Hi all,

I am new to FileMaker Pro (FMP). Currently involved in a short R&D to find if FMP would be a ideal solution to be used with one of our existing Products which takes an XML file as input. For this I have downloaded the FileMaker Pro 9 demo version.

I was able to create a catalog database in FMP9. Also I know there is an option to export the database to XML format. Then using an XSL stylesheet it is possible to convert the XML to the format that can be used with our existing application.

We want to store pictures directly into the XML file in BASE64 format. However I found that FMPs container datatype cannot be exported to xml.

So is there a workaround which will allow me to export the pictures into XML in BASE64 format.

Please help me with some answers...... Looking forward to hear from the File Maker Pro experts.

p.s: please note that each record in the FMP database table contains pictures. So I want to export the contents of this table to an XML file at once.

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Prashanth

Yes there is. There are custom functions and plugins that can convert the image into base64 text format, that resulting field can then show up in the XML. Do a google on the "base64 filemaker" and let us know where that gets you.
