crabuback Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I created my first database, a billing log for my wife, and had everything working fine. I then move it into my wife's account (on the same computer). Whenever she tries to access it, she gets the subject error. I can still access it from my account. I have admin privileges and she has Write data only privileges in the file. I have set permissions on both Filemaker and the file to allow her access. What am I doing wrong?
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 When you installed FileMaker Pro did you select the option to install for all users? Also, you aren't trying to run it simultaneously in both Accoutns are you? Steven
crabuback Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 I don't remember being given the choice to install for one user or all. Should I try to reinstall and see if I am offered the choice. No, I am not trying to run in more than one account at the same time.
crabuback Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 I reinstalled Filemaker Pro and was never asked the question about installing for one user or all. I still get the same error message when trying to access the file from my wife's account.
mr_vodka Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Try giving her system account permissions write access to all directories. Then try opening the file with her account. If it works properly, then go back to your restricted settings.
crabuback Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 I tried doing that with the directories involved with no change. I ended up rebooting, and now everything seems to be working fine (except Filemaker still says "Trial copy", even though I did register.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 If you ever had a trial copy you must disinstall it first. The option for this user or all users is on Windows. Steven
