Peter Landon Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Hi, I've just started using Filemaker and have modified the starter-kit business kit to suit my needs. I now have sales invoice totals, dates and invoice ref. numbers going back to 2001 for 500 customers. I would like to show the annual sales totals for each customer and for each year on a new layout tab but I can't see how to extract this information into a calculation or summary field. Can anybody give me some clues on how to proceed? :)
Søren Dyhr Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 While hardly having any idea of the shenanigans in the template, would I suggest you make a seach in the lineitems tables records using this format: Some of the new date search features in FileMaker Pro 8 are just what I've always wanted. For example, you can type in a range of "Monday...Friday" or "Mon...Fri" to locate all weekday dates. Or, you can use wildcards to locates all dates on January 1st, regardless of the year, by typing "1/1/*". You can use curly brackets to specify a range of months, such as "{1...6}/*/* to locate all the birthdays in the first 6 months of the year. Try these same wildcard techniques with time fields too. Play around with these tools, and I'm sure you'll be impressed with the flexibility. And let me know if you figure out some combination of these new features that let's you accomplish some really cool technique. ...and then report on the found set! --sd
Peter Landon Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try!
