I think I asked this before but am not sure.

In a file let's say with about 2500 records and about 30 fields on a layout what is the advantage (if any) or disadvantage of creating a global calculation field that will hold the data of all fields thus allowing a single search via custom dialog box which will search all records?

Something like find / replace from the edit menu only without the replace ability.

Any serious impact on speed of searches, file performance in general and such?

Go to the Menu "Activity" select "My Threads" or "My Posts", and you can see what transpired before.
