Hi there,

I have to design a database for engineering purpose.

Earlier they were maintaining a excel sheet to manage the price and part numbers.For a part number there will different effective prices for a time duration.

Excel sheet looks something like below.

PartNum Description Commodity Suppier CurrentPrice Price(Jan08) Price(Feb08) Price(Mar08) Price(Apr08) Price(May08)

Excel sheet has been managed manually and in some cases there may not be price update. i.e for Feb08 and Mar08 the price can be same as Jan08.

I have slightly modified the design and created 2 tables Parts and Price with partnum as relationship key.

Parts

PartNum Desription Commodity Supplier

Price

PartNum Price Effective_Date

I have created Parts layout where the price details are displayed/enetered in a portal.Till this everything fine. Now Im confused with the reporting design.

They want the report in table format which for them easy to analyse(something like the excel sheet which they are having currently) .Any inputs?
