Is there any way in FileMaker 9.3 Advance or Server to show who is currently online in the database?.

I'd like to avoid when 2 users are online with the same UserName.

For example, i'm a client working by internet with the database, when i'm on the middle of a process, another client log in with the same username.

I want to cancel the login and show a message for example.

I'm trying to solve it whit some fields, for example, when one user log in, check one field, if this field is empty then will write ther username there, but if their name is allready recored just cancel the login. When one user is logging out a script delete the data of field before log out. The problem is when i get disconected, i can't manage the "delete data content", then next time i try to conect i'm not going to be able, because the field is not empty.

If i can see who is online from the server, i could make a schueld script to manage this list of fields and interrupt or not, a user logging if another one with the same name is allready conected

I hope that someone understands me and help myself

Thanks

Your principal issue here may lie with the use of "User Name" rather than use of "Account Name." The former can be changed at will and comes from the workstation computer's FMP preferences. The latter is part of the security schema.

If you are using domain level External Server Authentication, you can block multiple instances of the same log-on. FileMaker Server does not do this natively. Some sort of workaround would be needed, and it's likely to be a fragile one.
