This is my 5th install and the first to have this problem: When the Admin Console tries to open I get 2 messsages: "Unable to start database engine" and then "Unknown error"

I have verified that the Apache server is running.

This install is on a new Mac Mini (Intel) with all the latest updates.

It could be the "latest updates" that's causing your problem. All these patches and updates are likely candidates for causing problems. It could also be the hardware. Please keep us posted on your progress here.

I have run into this repeatedly when trying to install over a previous install of anything. I would recommend a wipe and clean install of the system and then the latest Server versions 9v3.

Yeah this is a known issue, which i have resolved:

1. Do a full unistall

2. Restart computer

3. Re install

4. Restart Computer.

Problem solved. It needs the restart to clear the old files.
