I think this is the best place to post this question? I am using Filemaker Pro version 9. I have a text box that allows user to enter text. I also have a portal item that allows user to enter many records associated with the text box I just described. How can I update records in the database to reflect the text in the text box item and have it associated with each portal record being entered? The index is correct I just need the ability to update each item with the text from the text box??

Welcome to the forums, Amy. May I ask why you want to duplicate the data? I ask because it breaks a rule of database normalization, and if we know what problem you're actually trying to solve it will help us arrive at an optimal solution.
