Updating this old thread gives me the opportunity to point out our newly released Audit Trail.

I honnestly think it has great advantages over all other techniques I've seen so far, including plug-ins.

It requires only a free script triggering plug-in only (such as DoScript or zippScript).

It's open source (buy it, do what you want with it).

It's cheaper than any plug-in.

It's extremely easy to use.

And, last but not least, it makes FileMaker almost completely transactional, by giving a transaction number to a batch of data modifications. (import, replace field contents...)

I'm just too lazy to download it, extract it, watch it then delete it and the original zip.. cause i know it will just sit on my desktop forever and ever. Still though, awesome site with the exception of that.
