My IT would like us to move to Windows Server 8. At the same time we are planning to move up to FileMaker Server Advanced 9 from an older version.

Is there any compatibility data on running FileMaker Server Advanced 9 on Windows Server 8? Any technical opinions on letting them make this move?

I'm almost certain that you cannot run server 8 and 9 on the same server. Also, why would you want to? I would just move to server 9 and be done.

I think the question here refers to Windows Server 2008 OS and running FIleMaker Server 9 on it. Is that correct?

FileMaker Sever 9 [color:red]is not certified for Windows Server 2008. It very likely will not run correctly.

Yup, that's right. And thanks for the helpful comments. I'm going to recommend that we stay with WIN 2003 Server for the time being. :

Hi there,

I came across with this thread and became quite interested in further updates on this issue.

I have been trying to run FMS9 Advanced on Windows Server 2008, knowing that this use is not certified by FileMaker.

But before completely giving up on this idea, I would like to know if someone has tried the following and went successful:

1.Running Instant Web Publishing and viewing FM databases from a Web browser.

2.Running FileMaker API for PHP and updating FM databases.

3.Running FX.php and updating FM databases.

My environment is as follows:

Windows Server 2008 (64 bit)

FileMaker Server 9 Advanced V1

IIS 7

PHP5, which comes with FMS9

Server machine specs:

Dell PowerEdge T105

Dual-Core AMD Opteron Processor 1212 2Ghz

RAM 4GB

64 bit operating system

Any information/tips would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance. :)
