I'm trying to setup a value list that uses values from a field, but when I click the "use values from field" checkbox and the "specify fields for value list" form appears, everything on it is disabled. Does anyone know what circumstances prevent you from setting up a field to use for a value list?

Just in case this might have something to do with it, I'm using a MySQL database and trying to use filemaker as an interface. All of the tables used are Mysql tables.

Thank you for your response. I will consider creating a temporary table to copy the values to for the sake of a value list, but before I do I will continue to see if there is any better way to do things... maybe my approach isn't the best...
