Newbies dvl001 Posted May 8, 2008 Newbies Posted May 8, 2008 We have 13 PCs install w/ Filemaker Pro 9 and have Virtual Machine hosting the Database w/ FM Server 9. Everything is install however I don't know how to setup restriction on the 11 users to access to database. On the other hand, I would like to setup 2 user to be able to access to Database w/ Read&Write Access. What should I do? Is instruction on it?
mr_vodka Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 The 2 users would have to be in a seperate AD group which should also be the same name as you have setup as a FM Account. So for example, if you have setup the FM Account (which is setup as Authenticated by External Server) as something like FM-RW, then the AD group would have to be the same. This account would also have a privilege set that allows for Read and writing.
Newbies dvl001 Posted May 8, 2008 Author Newbies Posted May 8, 2008 Hi John, I am sorry b/c I am new to this. I have tried to setup the AD but it's asking me for Directory Server: and Directory Entry Point:. The Directory Server is the Server Name that I enter right? What is the Directory Entry Point? David
mr_vodka Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 See this thread. http://www.fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/194449 That is registering the server with LDAP, not setting up Active Directory.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Please review the Server External Authentication Tech Brief from the FMI web site for information on how to manage External Server Authentication. Steven
