Scripting find with value list

I have a database I use to tag book and periodical quotations. Each record is tagged with a subject, and each subject has multiple sub-subject possibilities. I have been asked to make the database more user friendly (I have been using only for myself up to now) and put on the network for others to access via FM Server. For that reason I have been installing script buttons and dressing up the interface. I encountered the following problem in scripting a find. I have a find layout that has a drop down list from a value list for "subject". Based upon that selection, the second field has a drop down list with checkboxes to select one or multiple "sub-subjects". I want the scripted find however to perform only on the "sub-subject" selections, and ignore the "subject" selection. I cannot figure out how to do that. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

It may make more sense to use global fields and create a relationship from the global field with the sub-subject selection checkbox on it to the actual field. Since it is a checkbox a Go to Related Records step will give you all the records that have those values. This IMO would be easier than scripting multiple find criteria for each of your selected checkbox values.
