I want to edit them within Emacs with function name highlighting, parenthesis balancing and so on.

I would appreciate any hints how to open the dialogs for cf and calculations with applescript. It is a bit nasty to switch between editing cf and testing cf even in pure FileMaker.

Presently I'm not on XP but on OS X. And Emacs is not Unix only. There is a very good branch for Mac called Aquamacs.
