Newbies nikkoblin Posted June 13, 2008 Newbies Posted June 13, 2008 Hi! I am trying to use a field-variable in a script to open record-specific file stored remotely on a server but does not seem to find an "open" command for other than fp7 or xls or formats FMP recognises. I just want to open a file by starting its designated application, not import it in FMP. I kind of suppose this is a stupid question but I am lost. Nico

Newbies nikkoblin Posted June 16, 2008 Author Newbies Posted June 16, 2008 As I am trying to open a file that will execute a specific application, I need to simulate the double-clicking on a file. Other Ideas?
comment Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 have a script simulate a double-click by using the Go to Field{} script step, with "Select/perform" checked. :idunno:
comment Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Perhaps this is the missing part: the path to file must be used in a calculation field, with the result set to type Container. Then double-clicking the calculated container field (manually, or by script) will open the file. See also: http://fmforums.com/forum/showpost.php?post/193276/
