Our IT guy recently quit, leaving me to learn and maintain our FM Database. BUT I dont know the passwords, and he doesn't recall them any more either, I really don't want to get into the password cracks, what would an uninstall/ reinstall do?

Uninstall isnt really going to help in retrieving the password in your data files; only if you forget the server admin password. Seems like your past IT guy is just bitter.
