Pushkraj Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Hi, I have created "Test Menu Set" in FileMaker 8.5 and FM 9. I need to get rid off the "Tools" menu. Can we remove this "Tools" menu from our menu set, or is there any mechanism by which we can disable the Menu items in Tools Menu set.
Vaughan Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 No, the Tools menu set always appears, but only for people with FMP Advanced. Normal users should not have FMPA, they should use the standard client version. The Tools menu allows access to the script debugger and to change the custom menu. More than once it's allowed me to get back into a file when either a script went feral, or a custom menu would have otherwise locked me out. You should not be relying on custom menus to provide data security by themselves. Set up the access privileges so that, for example, users cannot create or delete records. Then even if they manage to change menu sets and gain access to the new record and delete record commands, they will be inactive.
Pushkraj Posted June 26, 2008 Author Posted June 26, 2008 Thanks Vaughan.....I will need to check it out in File Maker Pro
