Newbies donna_t Posted July 2, 2008 Newbies Posted July 2, 2008 I've inherited an existing FM7 setup. All the user passwords are OK, but nobody knows the password for the admin console, and it is apparently different from the Admin user in the database. Is there a way to reset it without reinstalling? Running on W2K3. Thanks.
Wim Decorte Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Yes, it's stored in the registry as a hash so you can't read it but you can delete it. Look for the AdminAuth key in the FMS preferences (software hive of HKEY LOCAL MACHINE). This will revert the FMS config back to *NOT* allow remote admin connections and no password set. So you'll have to specify a new pw and re-enable remote admin functionality but at least all your other config settings will be preserved.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Wim is absolutely correct as he almost always is. One caveat however: [color:red]this process is for FileMaker Server 7 and FileMaker Server 8 only. It does not work this way for FIleMaker Server 9. Steven
