sending phone number to outlook

Featured Replies

Here at our office we use magicjacks for phone use, it comes with a plugin so you can click on a contact in outlook and dial it, I'm looking for a way to send contact phone and maybe address info from filemaker to outlook, like an "export to outlook" button i could link to a script to that would create a vcard or the like, any suggestions?

There may be other ways to do this, but, you can set a script to dial the phone directly from FM. There is a plugIn called Outlook Manipulator that will transfer data between FM and Outlook as well.

I use FM to directly call from my computer. I use VoiP (Vonage), but, as long as your computer(s) have a modem and you can run a line into your wall Jack it will work as well. The problem is you can only use 1 number to dial out on. If your employees have dedicated lines this will work, but, if, it's a small phone system it could present a problem. I'm not sure if it will work on a phone system that chooses the next available line automatically, but, i don't see why it wouldn't.

Thx for the reply, we use MagicJack for our phones here, it has it's own program for dialing with a plugin for outlook to dial directly from outlook, this "outlook manipulator" you mentioned sounds interesting, where can i find info on that? Also, you wouldn't happen to know where i can find more info on FM's dde server functions?

Here's a link to Outlook Manipulator:

This was the only thing I could find on Filemaker's web site:

Greetings. I found this thread of interest. I've previously used FMP and AB Dialer (and some scripts I found) to dial the phone for years through my internal modem on my old Mac G4 laptop. When this G4 finally died, my new MacBook Pro did not contain an internal modem, so I bought the new Apple external USB modem for dialing. Apparently the scripts for dialing no longer work with this external USB modem. AB Dialer dials, but it does not seem to pick up the modem hook/line. The easiest fix would seem to be to get this to work via correct script code, which is over my head. The second easiest fix would seem to be to port the number from FMP to dial directly on my MagicJack and skip the Outlook/Entourage thing. That is to say, use the MagicJack software plugin for dialing in place of AB Dialer.
