Lock the Text field with behavior as calculation field

Hi all,

Got a simple question ]

In calculation field, I can select the value and copy it. When I want to change it, the pop up show "This action cannot be performed because the field is not modifiable." That's good. So, can this one also be applied to regular "Text" field?

If I have a "Text field" and I want to lock it (prevent user from changing the value), but user can select the value (copy and paste) for searching or finding purpose. Is this possible? I tried to unclick "Allowed field to be entered: in Browse mode" and try to select value inside a field and it cannot be selected (fully locked).

Or is this not allowed by FM since it is not a good practice?
