Neuronal Nerd Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I'm trying to constrain a set to the results of more than one field. For instance, I have a list of client's names (composed of two fields: First Name and Last Name). I would like to script a find to constrain the set to include results from both the First and Last Name fields. Therefore if "John" was a first name, it would show up in the found set and if "John" was a last name, it would also show up in the found set. Any advice is appreciated. Picture_2.pdf
Neuronal Nerd Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 I've found the same question elsewhere and the response is pasted below. I would like to use the second method but am unsure about how to implement that in a script: "If I understand correctly, you have ten fields you want to search for the same value e.g. car. There are a few ways to do this. One way is to create a calculated field that concatenates the ten fields: = Field1 & " " Field 2 & " " & Field 4 .... & " " & Field10 Then search in that calculated field for the required value. If it exists in any of the ten fields, the record will be found. Another way (without redundant data) would be to script the process where the user enters the required value into a global field and then the script constructs ten find requests and performs the find."
