Scripts not search through all records.

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I'm having a bit of trouble with the soultion I'm designing. (I'm an ex-access newbie)... I have 2 scripts that I use to find a set of records from the same table (Different types of the same record). The one script is working without any problems. However, the second script (which is an exact copy of the other with the search criteria and target layout changed) returns an error:

"This operation could not be completed because the target is not part of a related table"

I have error capture off to check what is going on.

If I'm in Scriptmaker and execute each script, they both work as I expect.

So, my questions:

1. Does filemaker remember scripts that were run before it was last closed down (The output after clicking ok on the error dialog is the output of the script that is working OK)

2. How can I get the scripts to search through all records each time they are run?

Any thoughts and help would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers

George :P

Send us a dump of the relational graph!

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at this. The graph is attached.

A bit of background - I have workorders and timesheets which I have combined into one table (tbJobcost)as the information on each is almost exactly the same; and a combined table holding their line items (TBJobcostLine). The type of record is denoted by a calculation which is driven by checking whether the relationship is to an employee or supplier.

Another reason for combining is that I need to generate reports that list both timesheets and workorders.

Cheers

George

Although I wonder why you relationally have broken your structure into jobcost and jobcostline, would I also like to see a dump of each of the two requests. Or even better send me your file off forum or attach it to the thread here. Stored requests are hard to decipher, unless you can print directly to .pdf for each of the scripts - you're not on a mac obviously!

This article might be a interresting read ... as to what happens to found set.

http://www.sumware.net/robfm/savingfoundsets.php

What happens in your case is similar you issue the request in the menu layout which is a table of no records at all which yield nothing, then you script takes you to a previous found set, this is not seen because you're under an error capture clause.
