Retriving data from repeating fields

I need to create a field within my list view that retrieves ONLY the newest entry from a differant, repeating field. Right now it is only showing the OLDEST entry from the repeating field!

The calculation "last(repeating field)" returns the bottom entry in the list.

I have tried that, and as far as I can tell is has no affect.
