Everytime I open a record in the active list it recreates itself on the Data entry list, as a new record, despite already exising, essentially duplicating itself, but as a new record. I don't have any scripts running with such a command. Why is this happening?

You'll have to give us a little more information. This is kind of a "my database is broken, what's wrong?" question.

How many files do you have? How are they connected/related? Is the number of records actually increasing (from what to what)? What do you mean by "open" a record (we usually open files)? What is a recod in each file?
